Intercede- To plead on another's behalf.  
Hackneyed- over used and thus cheapened.
Approbation- official approval.
Innuendo- an indirect or subtle and usually derogatory implication in expression.
Coalition- an alliance of faction, parties, or nations
Elicit- to call forth
Hiatus- a gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity.
Assuage- to make less burden some or painful.
Decadence- a process, condition or period of deterioration or decline, as in morals or art.
Expostulate- to reason earnestly with someone in an effort to dissuade or correct.
Simulate- to have or take on the appearance, form, or sound of.
Jaded- tired, bored, or lacking enthusiasm.
Umbrage- offense or annoyance.
Prerogative- A right or privilege exclusive to a particular individual or class.
Lurid- Very vivid in color.
Transcend- Go beyond the range or limits of.
Provincial- of or concerning a province of a country or empire.
Petulant- displaying or characterized by bad humor.
Unctuous- Greasy or soapy to the touch.
Meritorious- deserving of reward; praise.
